I am looking for students to study the works of Alphonso G. Newcomer.
He wrote a book called:American Literature.
I know as much as you do after you have read the preface, and introduction
of his book.
What I want to do is research, and study the top two poets of each
Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Poets of America
from the 20th Century;
Furthermore, I want to do the same with your opinions on the top
two poets from Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Poets of
So we need to gather a list of Poets from the 20th century, and
a list from this site for our 21st Century.
We can do this as we go, chapter to chapter from the book.
The purpose is to raise the bar, and to see where poetry needs to go.

Some info on Alphonso Gerald Newcomer
joined the pioneer faculty as an assistant
professor in 1891, teaching and writing
about composition, rhetoric, and literature.
When Anderson gave up administrative
duties in 1906, Newcomer took over as
executive head of the department, a position
he held until his death at 49 in 1913. An
1887 graduate of the University of Michigan,
he earned a master’s degree at Cornell in
1888 and taught French and Latin at Knox
College before coming to Stanford.
